Why matching your resume to each job description matters

Generic, one-size-fits-all resumes get filtered out at scale. Recruiters spend roughly seven seconds on an initial scan, and ATS software ranks candidates by keyword relevance before a human ever looks. Tailoring your resume to each specific job description consistently doubles interview rates — yet sending the same resume to every posting is still the single most common mistake among job seekers in India and the Gulf applying at high volume.

How the match score is calculated

The engine first extracts the job's actual requirements — skills, seniority, education, certifications, domain — then checks each against your resume for real evidence, not just keyword presence. Scoring weights hard-skill and keyword match at 40%, experience and seniority alignment at 30%, domain and industry fit at 15%, and education or certifications at 15%. A requirement marked "critical missing" means the role is unlikely to consider you without it; "nice-to-have" gaps rarely disqualify you.

How to use your results (without lying)

Add skills you genuinely have but never wrote down — this is the single most common fixable gap. Mirror the job description's exact terminology instead of your own synonyms. Reorder your bullets so the most relevant wins appear first in each role. Quantify the requirements you do match with real numbers. Never claim a skill or tool you don't actually have — interviews expose it within minutes, and it costs you the offer and your credibility.
